Richmond Public Library

As an avid reader, Mikemetic has been a dedicated supporter of the Richmond Public Library (RPL) for over a decade. He is one of the founding participants of their Black Male Emergent Readers (BMER) program and has participated in a variety of different initiatives to increase literacy in students across the city of Richmond.

In 2018 Richmond Public Libraries led a reading initiative called 100 Days, 100 Books, 100 Places that featured members of the Richmond community presenting short summaries of a book they selected from the list of 100. Mikemetic presented his thoughts on Foundation, which is the first in a collection of books from pioneering science fiction author Isaac Asimov, at Dogtown Dance Theater in the Manchester district on the Southside of Richmond.

In 2018 Mikemetic participated in the 2nd Annual BMER Black History Month Celebration of Virginia Authors which took place at the Main Branch of the Richmond Public Library. His book of urban poetry Hood Haiku Volume One: Sidewalk Science was released in late 2017, and this event provided a meaningful way to build with other black authors in the region around the topics of black male literacy.
