Fine Arts

As an artist of many mediums, Mikemetic is experienced as both a creator and curator of content. Being a skilled purveyor of cultural arts in a number of capacities, he has created opportunities to coordinate and participate in events and productions at some of the finest institutions in the city of Richmond.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA)

Since 2016, Mikemetic and his Afro Beta collective have been the featured sound providers for the annual African and African-American Art Family Day at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. By adding authentic rhythm and sounds to festivities celebrating cultural icons such as Kehinde Wiley and the Ethiopian Orthodox Towahedo Church, Mikemetic has continued to expand on his invocations at high quality fine arts events around RVA.

When the National Museum of African-American Culture opened in 2016 it was a major event with organizations around the world participating in welcoming events for its grand opening. Afro Beta was selected by the museum to host a satellite event for their opening weekend. Featured artists were Ohbliv, RAMSEY, DJ Harrison, U.N.I.T.Y. Street Project, DJ Sayeed, DJ TruBlue, and Victor Haskins. Black Heath Meadery and Free Jambalaya were on the scene as well and helped make the event a proper local celebration of the historic opening of the NMAAHC.

Modlin Center for Performing Arts

In working with the University of Richmond Department of Theatre and Dance, Mikemetic has had the opportunity to be part of Creative Development teams for two different productions at the Modlin Center. His contributions as both an Original Composer for elements of the score and as a live DJ providing cued sound effects and soundtrack elements to Blu in 2012 earned him an Honorary Membership into the U of R chapter of Alpha Psi Omega Theater and Dance Honor Society. Remnants (2014) provided the opportunity to work with New York City-based director José Joaquin Garcia a second time, as well as coordinating scenes with legendary member of the Rock Steady Crew and Universal Zulu Nation, Pop Master Fable.
